_______
This intensive weekend course focuses on creative wax modelling techniques for casting, with different types of malleability and shapes and on the three-dimensional exploration of hollow pieces/objects with pre-set stones.
Wax facilitates creative exploration and allows you to visualise and ergonomically evaluate the objects created before producing them in metal, facilitating corrections and allowing for a dynamic workflow, taking advantage of the plasticity of the materials. The transition from wax to metal can be carried out by a specialised company. There are no requirements or experience in jewellery making, however, we suggest that you obtain training in jewellery making techniques in order to be able to carry out the necessary post-production of the metal pieces.
TARGET GROUP
Jewellers, artists, craftspeople, sculptors and curious people who want to creatively explore casting waxes to create jewellery/objects with metals.
SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
Theoretical
Knowing and framing waxes in the investment casting manufacturing cycle, advantages and limitations
Perform weight conversion calculations based on material density
Identify and characterise various types of wax and contexts of use, tools and equipment.
Technical and workshop skills
Experiment with and apply modelling techniques in a creative context using aluminium foil and tracing paper, wire wax, textured wax, free forms and liquid wax.
Experimenting with and applying techniques for creating hollow volumes and using the drip technique.
Apply fluid finishes
Pre-engraving the created objects with stones
